Home Video Birthday Celebration

Sunday we celebrated my Mother-In-Law’s Birthday! It was nice to get together with all the family. We joined her for church and then headed to her house for lunch. Thankfully Matt & Kate had already gotten a jump on the cooking so we were ready to eat once we got there! We had Chicken & Noodles, which is a family favorite. Both my side and his. I mean really who doesn’t love chicken & noodles over mashed potatoes?!? After a yummy lunch we opened presents and then BY FAR my favorite part…we watched home videos! They busted out the old VCR and I got to watch my Hubby as a little boy! I don’t think I have ever seen a cuter boy with big ol’ glasses than this one!

Look at those things

There were times I was laughing so hard tears were running down my face! It was fun to see how much Jentry looks like her Mama and Matt in his short shorts and high socks playing bball. To some it was boring but I could have watched it forever. Honestly I praise my MIL. A single mom raising 3 kids on her own…. these 3 looked like a handful. She is a saint after watching these videos!

So serious

It was a fun day and I’m very lucky to have the in-laws I do. The card we got Chris said it perfectly…She may have raised only one of us but loves me like her own. And I’m truly grateful for that.

Happy Birthday Chris!

Snowgirl Sally & Sledding

Jenny was also off yesterday so we decided we would relive our childhood by building a snowman and going sledding. I can’t really remember the last time I did either. I have some pictures from Jr. year in High School and that might be the last time. We bundled up and looked like hoodlums but hey it kept us warm. Meet our Snowgirl Sally…..

Sally is sick of the snow and ready for summer

After a couple hours we created this masterpiece if you can call it that. My brother says she looks like a prostitute. Maybe just a tad….We had such a good time and I guess you can say you are never too old to play in the snow! Heather joined us after work to go sledding. We grabbed a couple of sleds from our parent’s houses (probably time to invest in our own) and headed to Jardine Hill. When you're younger that hill looks a lot bigger but it was still fun!

Happy National Margarita Day!
Jenny & Heather...you can see this is were Heather's face hit Jenny's head OUCH!

We got a little too confident or maybe we had to many Lime-A-Ritas and decided to check out Quinton Heights. I don’t ever remember going there in high school and I now know why. The ambulance that was there when we pulled up should have been the hint! There was too many people, no one watches out where they are going, and the snow was hard as ice. What was I thinking?!?

We decided to all go together and didn't even make it down halfway before we ate it. We all went flying different directions. I landed hard on my ass sending sharp pains up my spine. My head snapped back so hard my hat went flying and we were all covered in snow. I checked out real fast and wasn't attempting another try. The girls went again and I so wish I had my camera that time. Again they only made it halfway before rolling down the hill with legs flying everywhere. I was glad everyone was ok, a little sore but we had a lot of fun.

A much smoother ride

We hit up Cielito Lindo for some yummy Mexican food before heading to Heather’s parent’s house to play the Wii. We didn't even touch the Wii we just sat around, enjoying a few cocktails and having a fun girl’s night. It reminds me so much of college. The 3 of us were always together and I’m so excited as we start to settle down we are all back together again! I woke up this morning stiff as a board, barely able to move with a swollen neck. Guess I’m not as young as I use to be…..but it sure was a fun day with my girls!

The Blizzard of OZ

Well we sure were hit yesterday with what people were calling the “Blizzard of Oz!” I was quite excited, as we haven’t had that much snow since a week after our wedding. Which I still thank god it didn’t happen a week earlier or we would have been eating chicken for a whole year! It was a beautiful site to look at and I was so thankful I could enjoy it from the inside of my home!

Brian went into work but made it home later that morning after having to help push several cars stuck on the ramp just so he could get on I-70! After he was home safe we cuddled up on the couch and watched the rest of the fourth season of Breaking Bad. I wish I could say we organized our closets and cleaned out the basement but I would be lying. We didn't move all day and it was great! My bestie Jenny (who is now living in Topeka YAY!) even joined us for a few episodes, a bottle of wine, Mexican Chili and some Thin Mint ice cream! Who says Snow Days aren't as fun when you're an adult!

We got close to 10 inches

Aloha!

I received this email from The Hubs this morning! After complaining with my girlfriends about how white we all are and in desperate need of a tan this sounds like a dream! I think I could get use to living in paradise! A girl can dream.......

Happy 2013 Blogworld!

Can’t believe I have been away for so long! The year hasn’t started off the best as both Brian and I have been sick since the 1st of the year. Looks like everyone has it. I wish we could just kick this crap. After being sick since Christmas Eve I finally went to the doctor last Tuesday, I had Bronchitis. Just finished the Zpack yesterday and I feel 100x better but now the Hubs is coughing up a storm. Just when I thought we were in the clear! Pray for us!

I plan to do a monthly recap of 2012 just to get some pictures uploaded! It has been a blast living back in Topeka and getting to see our friends and family more often! Owning our first home has been so much fun. Of course I have enjoyed decorating it so far but have lots more ideas to come. Our house has also become quite the party house. It feels like we are back in college! Just a lot harder to recover these days!

Hoping you all enjoyed the Holidays!
