Weekend Getaway

Well I was right….We didn’t leave at 5 or 6, or even 7. We left at 7:45 Thursday night!! Ahh! It was a straight easy drive to Minnesota. Thank God! We made a few stops and arrived at our hotel room at 3am. Lights Out!

Alarm went off at 8am! I finally got up around 8:30. We were dressed and at the Mall of America at 10. No time for breakfast we had to shop. Dedicated shoppers some may say or others probably think we are crazy. We completed Floor 1 our first day and had to make it back to the hotel to change and be at the rehearsal dinner at 5. We gave ourselves enough time but with Minneapolis traffic a 20 minute drive turns into an hour. There is no way I could ever live there.

The dinner was at Loring Pasta Bar down by the University. Such a cool place with delicious food. It’s on our list for next time we visit. Saturday we were back at the Mall at 10 where we completed Floor 3 and half of Floor 2. Brian would text me throughout the day and ask what I was doing. My answer was always shopping. His response was always…“Still!” I didn’t marry a shopper that’s for sure!

We headed back to the hotel to change for the wedding. Cameron –The Groom is my neighbor who I grew up with and our Moms are BFFs! Cameron and Jessy’s wedding was at a beautiful golf course. She was a gorgeous bride and I just loved her fall flowers!

Sunday we checked out and hit up Ikea at 10. There was so much I could buy there! Such a cool store! Once we buy a house a trip to Ikea is a must! We headed over to the mall around 12 to finish up Floor 2. We even saw Hank and Kendra at her book signing! I couldn’t get mom to ride the roller costars with me but I can’t wait to bring our kids up there for a trip. I still remember when I went 14 years ago. I told Brian we are going to plan at family trip to go shopping. He told me….“No offense. But that sounds horrible!” LoL I better find a golf course near by for him!

We left the mall around 3. With a 30 min detour back to the hotel to find my mom’s glasses (which were in her purse the whole time…ugh) we pulled into our apartment at 10:05.

It was good to be home! After showing Brian all my purchases I could barley keep my eyes open!!

It was a fun weekend away with my Mom, which I hope we start to do more often!! I just love that lady!

Here are a few pictures from our trip. I will post a Smilebox with the wedding pictures later today!!

Happy Monday!!

6 years later...

Just a quick note…....Today marks the day when I first walked into Founder’s Hill apartments and met “Pudge” who 6 years later I call husband. I couldn’t ask for a more fun loving and HOTT husband to call my own!

I love you Brian Christopher!

The BIG 2-5

Well it’s official…I’m a quarter of a century old! I was really starting to feel down about turning 25 as I remember my 16 birthday like it was yesterday. Man does time fly! But after this weekend turning 25 doesn’t seem so bad. I was surrounded by my friends and family and couldn’t feel more loved!

After the shower I headed back to celebrate in Topeka with some of my best friends. Brian was with the guys playing golf and camping in Holton and would come over on Sunday. It seems like high school all over which was always a good time. After a night out I can I tell my body is not 21 anymore!

Sunday we both lounged around after being pretty “under the weather!” We met our good friends Trent and Shannon for dinner and then I headed out to have a few drinks with my best friend Chelsey who was in town from Dallas to visit. We spent many birthdays together and I was glad this one was no different.

Brian took off Monday and Tuesday so sleeping in felt so good! No alarm clock waking us up was a great start to the day! We hit up Taco Casa for lunch and then to the sports center for a round of Putt-Putt. Loser cleans the kitchen, which was me! We headed back to my parents house to finish cleaning as our good family friends from Chicago were coming to visit. My mom grew up with my Aunt Cheryl and her daughters Amy & Ally use to babysit us. There were many pranks pulled when these ladies would come over! Still to this day we laugh about! They are both Mamas now and I was able to meet Ally’s baby Kierstyn aka “Kiki” when we were in Chicago in 2009. It was so fun to see her again and she is just the sweetest, most polite child I have ever met. Fingers crossed my child will be like her! She is a little lovebug! We were serenaded by her harmonica playing and even found out that her Grammy can play too! After lots of laughs we didn’t get to bed till 3am! Tuesday we said our goodbyes and headed back to KC to pick up the house, which turned into naptime! Gotta love it!

Mom and I leave for Minnesota later this afternoon to do some major shopping and attend a wedding! I better run! Suppose to be leaving at 5 but let’s just bet it’s closer to 6 knowing my family!

Have a great weekend!!

Beautiful Fall Shower

Today my Mama and I hosted a bridal shower for my best friend Emily. We have known each other since we were born. Our moms are best friends and even are grandmothers were best friends. It was a Fall themed shower so even though it was rainy outside it was still warm and cozy inside. We used Fall colored Fiestaware and served the drinks out of Mason Jars! On the menu were 3 kinds of quiches, asparagus, assorted breads, fruit ice and mimosas! (Not very Fall themed but still Yummy!) Thank you to my Aunt Amy for opening up her home! Everything was perfect!

It has been so great to hang out with Emily more and meeting her Bryan since moving to KC. We have such a great time when we get together and I can't wait for their beautiful day. I know everything will be perfect and she will be one gorgeous bride!!

Enjoy the slideshow! I'm off to Topeka to celebrate the BIG 2-5! Ahh!

Girl's Weekend

On Friday, Julianna and I headed down to the OC …Osage City that is to visit our friend Addie. Addie is one of my high school friends who teaches 4th grade down in Osage. It was an easy hour and a half drive but one I would not like to take a night. Addie has a cute little house, which is split into 2 apartments. She lives in the basement part and after trying to sleep with someone walking above me at 7am and vacuuming I’m thankful our apartment is on top.

We hit up Buzzard’s Pizza for dinner. It was a happening place on Friday night. It was funny to walk in and hear are the little kiddos whispering “Look it’s Miss Ziegler!”

I think I just surround myself with indecisive people. Myself, my mom, aunts, and my friends it just seems like we can’t make a decision. It took awhile to be waited on which we needed since we couldn’t decide on what pizza to get. What about Supreme?…“No I don’t like onions.” What about Meat Lovers?….Addie's response: “Ohhh all that meat will give me indigestive.” Probably the best line of the night as I’m struggling with turning 25 next week and we are now getting so old we are taking about indigestion. Supreme it was with no onions.

Addie’s friends Kylie and Liz joined us for dinner and then back to their house for drinks. We headed to the one and only bar there and I think we made up for the half the business. It was fun to just chat, dance, and not have to drive or in our case walk miles to get home.

Yep..These are my friends and I love them to pieces!

A little tired the next morning, as we didn’t go to bed till 4am. Our weekend continued with Addie coming up to KC and hanging around. It felt like college all over again which I miss. Saturday night we bummed around at Jule’s watching random football games, playing Family Feud and getting the $h!t scared out of us by Brian. Love you babe!

We were all geared up for Chiefs Sunday! Brian’s alarm went off at 5am and he was at Arrowhead at 7 ready to tailgate. I didn’t drag my butt out of bed till 10 and still had to run to the store to get stuff to make Chili. The girls headed over for the game, which let’s just say was an embarrassment. After many photos I don’t think we even ended up with one worthy for Facebook.

Later that evening Aunt Cyndi invited us over for a Thanksgiving style dinner for 9/11. It was a fun get together like always and we all have many things to be thankful for.

We just got back from Matt & Kate's tonight. They had us over for a pre-birthday dinner. Kate has had big success on Weight Watchers and was sweet enough to consider my points when putting dinner together.

You're never too old for a doggie pile!

No Tubby Tuesday post tomorrow but I did want to share I hit the -10 pound mark on Friday. I feel like I’m finally getting the hang of it! Slow and ready wins the race right?

My mom and I are hosting a Bridal Shower for my good friend Emily on Saturday. Still lots to do so I better get going!! Check back for pictures!!

Hope everyone has a good week!

P.S. Jayden is going to have a BABY BROTHER!!!

Remembering 9/11

My Freshman year of High School I sat in Mr. Zimmerman's classroom 10 years ago and watched the world change. Remembering those who lost their lives and the families who lost their loved ones. 9/11 We will NEVER forget.

2 Buns in the Oven!!!

The cat is out of the bag!!! Jenny and Clayton will be welcoming their first child at the end of March and Julia, Will and Big brother Jayden will be welcoming a baby brother or sister in Feburary. Aunt Lane and Uncle Pudge couldn’t be more thrilled!

Jenny called us a few weeks ago to let us know the exciting news but it has been Hush..Hush until now! Julia knew she was pregnant at our little get together but let me know the exciting news a few days later after having another Dr. Appt. I’m over the moon and just love being an Aunt. I just love watching them grow and getting to spoil the heck out of them. Hearing them call me Aunt Lane just melts my heart.

There is a little hope that one of them might have a little girl as I’m dying to buy the tu-tus and hairbows. Jenny and I joked over the weekend that their baby will be saying “What’s Up Aunt Lane!”, Yo-Yo!, Hey girl! Pound it! and probably be the most laid back baby like its parents. I just can’t wait to love on 2 little bundles of joy in 2012. Now if we could just find out boy or girl so I could get shopping......
Here is the Big Bro sporting his new tee.

Check back soon to see if Jayden will have a baby brother or sister!!! Any guesses?!?

Fear of the Scale after Labor Day Fun!

Well after a fun trip back to Topeka and too much food I didn’t even step on the scale this morning. I weighed in on Saturday and lost 1.4 last week. Total 9.8. Ohh how I wanted to rip off a piece of clothing to get me to the 10 pound mark. I thought the meeting would be about the temptations during Labor Day but it wasn’t so I decided to write down ways I could stick to tracking my points without blowing my diet over the holiday weekend. I wrote things like…

*Take small potions
*Don’t go back for seconds
*No alcohol
*Get in a 30 minute walk

So these were all doable but I have to say I failed.

We headed back to Topeka on Saturday. I had lunch at home and packed some fruit and my water bottle for the road. I had saved most of my points for dinner so we could enjoy some yummy Tortilla Jacks. Oh how I miss that place! My first temptation was when we had to stop by Coldstone to drop off aprons. Surprisingly I walked out with nothing in my hand. I would mark Saturday off as a good day.

Sunday rolls around and I head to the In-Laws for lunch. No alcohol…check. Small potions…check…Don’t go back for seconds…check well until I got a little room in my tummy and headed back for some more Strawberry Shortcake. And that’s where it all went down hill.

That evening we were celebrating Logan’s birthday and headed to the Olive Garden for some family bonding, as Logan would say. I’m really glad I married someone who fits right into the family and accepts some of the crude things my family says. Sometimes we just don’t have a filter. We were laughing so hard at Logan’s impersonations you would think we were the only ones in the restaurant. Tears rolling down my face I was laughing so hard…time to go! I would say eating at Olive Garden I was surprised I didn’t stuff my face. I had water, 1 breadstick, salad and half of the lunch potion of Fettuccine Alfredo. Not too bad for what I use to eat there but of course we had to hit up Coldstone for dessert and this time I didn’t refuse.

I was pretty uncomfortable that night and in the back of my mind I kept telling myself why did you eat all that? But I decided to stop being so hard on myself. It was the holiday oh well. It wasn’t the end of the world. I enjoyed myself and if I don’t gain back 9.8 pounds I will survive!

The weather couldn’t be more beautiful this past weekend. I can tell my mood has changed. I just love this time of year! We had a family breakfast on Monday. Bs&Gs and Hash. I did track my points yesterday. Only having 1 biscuit and not going back for seconds. We stuck around all day. I was pretty lazy but Brian ran around with my Dad and brother. We grilled out for dinner and then headed home. Sleeping with the windows open was like heaven to me but not for Brian’s allergies. Sorry hunny!

Of course we failed at the exercise thing last week. I have always counted on someone else and exercising is my least favorite thing! This morning I have already walked the dog and did my pilates. I swear it must be this weather.

I forgot my camera this weekend so I only took a few pictures. Here are just some fun ones. My new bangs, Ellie the lady of the house and McLovin sporting his new shirt!

Hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day. Stay tuned for some exciting news this week!

Birthday Boy

I still can't believe my baby brother is 19 today. It makes me sad how fast he has grown up but he has made me one proud sister. We moved him into the dorms at Emporia State last month. My mom and I joked saying it felt like we were just moving me in. But this experience was much smoother. Here is the college boy moving in along with some pictures of his room. He lives with 3 other football players who he met this year. I'm even jealous of their nice seating area where they all can hang out. It's nice that we talk about once a week. He has let me know that the food is pretty good and that the parties are fun. But haven't heard how his classes are going! Lol

He was red-shirted in football but we are still looking forward to cheering on the Hornets this year and can't wait to watch him play next year! He let us know this year he is just going to get "huge!"

Below is one of my favorite pictures of us that we took in 2007. I still remember rocking him and holding him as a baby. I miss those days. He really was the cutest blond headed little boy. This year we tried the pose again. I think he should have been holding me this time!

Happy 19th Birthday Bubba! I love you so much and I'm so proud of all of your accomplishments! Enjoy your special day!
